New ‘Weather-Pi’ upgraded to Raspberry Pi 2

The new Raspberry PI 2 model B has arrived, and has just taken over from the the B+ Pi that has been running the weewx weather system for the last few months.

Packing a faster ARMv7 CPU processor with 4 cores, and double the memory at 1024MB, there is much more ‘ceiling’ for the Weather Pi, enabling to be a more reliable control centre for warning about worsening weather conditions and protecting our cliff-top house automatically by operating the storm shutters.

The Pi is an ideal ‘dedicated’ computer with tiny footprint and very low power consumption (just a few watts of electricity compared to the hundreds of watts a standard PC uses) – ideal for 24/7 operation and great for home automation.
