I wanted to take the peaceful few days between Christmas and New Year to really refresh the data collected from the local weather that helps our Raspberry Pi-powered Storm Shutters Controller (known as ‘WeatherPi’) make good decisions about when to lower and raise the protective barriers from our sea-facing windows.
I wanted to share the data and needed:
- An API that can communicate with WeatherPi to easily interrogate the data, and
- A web application that could use the API to provide an interesting front-end to sort and chart the data.
You can also watch the live view updated once every 60 seconds by another Raspberry Pi watching the sea through an upstairs window!

May I take this opportunity to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2019. I think it’s going to be quite a year full of more Trump and Brexit but hey, at least you and I can escape into tech and a spot of programming 🙂
